Tutoring - Tutoring is available in the library Monday-Thursday from 3:45-4:30. If you need help in any subject, the time to get it is now. Please arrive prepared and on time.
Detentions - Please make sure you serve all assigned detentions within 24 hours of receiving it. You have three options to serve your detentions per day; before school, lunch, or after school. Over-due detentions will be posted in the window of the North Office.
Drivers Education - Driver education students who have not yet received a permit, must see Mr. Nika in Room 222 before going to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get the permit. The Driver Exam Stations, as of two weeks ago, have required an additional form along with your permit application. If you do not pick up this form from Mr. Nika, they will not issue you a permit. If you were in classroom driver's education 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter and have not received a permit, see Mr. Nika in Room 222 today.
Prom - The main office has $40 off coupons for tuxedos from Seno Formal Wear.
Excellent News - Lanphier High School will have a Summer Academy at no cost to any Lanphier High School student. The Academy will be Monday-Thursdays and will begin Monday, June 11, and end Thursday, July 19. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Please listen closely to announcements for upcoming registration information.
Kiss a Senior Goodbye - Do you have a friend or a “special someone” that is a senior and graduating from LHS to move onto the next chapter of his or her life? Would you like to wish a senior good luck or say goodbye?Then purchase a “Kiss Goodbye” for only one dollar. The “Kiss Goodbye” includes a postcard that you may write a brief message on and an attached package of a few Hershey kisses. We will be selling these on A lunch in the Small Commons through today. The “Kiss Goodbyes” will be distributed during the practice for graduation on May 15th. If you have any additional questions about the “Kiss Goodbyes” please see Miss Oyler in Room 304, Ms. Cravens in 105, or Mrs. Davis is Room 249. All proceeds will go toward the senior class fund.
T-Shirts - We have RESTORED the ROAR! Lanphier Boys Basketball T-shirts are now for sale! Shirts must be pre-paid and orders in by May 9. Please see Ms. Jurgens or Ms. Kern to order and spread the word to friends and family outside of LHS!
Seniors - Decision Day is May 17. Want to be on the guest list? Don't forget to sign up with Ms. Howell in the College Room to be a part of the festivities. You must bring a letter to your future self, proof of acceptance to a college or university, proof of enlistment with the armed forces, or proof of a full-time job after graduation. Don't wait until it's too late! If you have any questions, please see Ms. Howell in the College Room attached to the library.
NHS - Still needing service hours? Sign up with Ms. Seifert for an opportunity to help with Decision Day and see Ms. Howell for details. Any student is welcome to help, so even if you aren't in NHS, if you want to be a part of the Decision Day process, please see Ms. Howell as soon as possible.
Seniors - Extra graduation announcements can be purchased in Room 105 for $1.20 each. Cash only.
Show Choir - Do you like to sing and dance? If you answered yes, then show choir is the answer for you! We will be having auditions for next year's group on Tuesday, May 8, right after school. Please report to Room 228 and have a song prepared to sing; we will teach you part of a dance. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Mitchell.
Prom - Prom is Saturday, May 12, in the Illinois Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds from 8:00-11:00 p.m. The SGA will be selling Prom tickets during both lunch shift during the entire week of May 7 to May 11. The cost is $15 a person or $25 a couple if purchased at school or $20 a person or $35 a couple if purchased at the door.
Prom is a formal event. No jeans, tennis shoes, jerseys or ball caps will be allowed. Ladies need to keep in mind that no bare midriffs will be allowed, belly piercing should not be exposed and dresses should not be so low that more than the middle of the back is exposed. Plunging necklines are unacceptable and all necklines should be appropriate and in compliance with the school dress code. However, spaghetti straps and strapless formal wear will be acceptable for the dance.
After Prom - Tickets will be on sale next week during lunch for $10. Anyone who purchases tickets on Monday or Tuesday will be in a drawing to win some prizes. Students under 18 must have a parent permission form signed. Those forms are available in the academic office or during lunch.
From Our Police Officer - Students remember you are to cross in a crosswalk and cross with the signal. Those who violate the rules can be cited.
Seniors - Caps and gown will be here May 9. They will be distributed during the senior class meeting. You must report to your first hour for announcements and attendance. You will then be dismissed by PA to the commons. However, ALL FINES and FEES must be paid before you can receive your cap and gown. You may check with Ms. Wolff in the Academic Center and Ms. Madonna in the Main Office to see if you owe any fines. All fines and fees MUST be paid by money order or cash.
The senior class officers and SGA officers for the 2012-13 school year need to see Mr. Metzke in Room 250; Ms. Cravens in Room 105; Ms. Oyler in Room 304; or Mrs. Davis in Room 249 today.
Girls Track & Field - In the girls conference track and field meet last night Lindsay Banks threw her best of the season in the shot put - 36' 3 1/4" (2nd place); 4 x 100 meter relay team took 5th place with a season time of 52.591 seconds/Nicole Dentzman, Halle Fairconnetue, Quinesyea Richardson and Sierra James. Nicole Dentzman ran 59.91 seconds in the 400 meter run and placed second. This was Nicole's career best. Sierra James ran her season best in the 200 meter run and placed 7th with a timeof 27.58 seconds. Shasta Bryant ran her season best of 2.47.45 in the 800 meter. When you see these girls, congratulate them. Great job Lady Tracksters.
