NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
National Honor Society is a by-invitation club that recognizes the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service in our juniors and seniors. Students in NHS are required to complete five service hours a month (forty for the year).

There is a two-fold criteria to be considered for NHS. Juniors must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 23.00 and seniors must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 20.00 to be considered for membership. This makes it important for freshmen and sophomores to maintain good grades in their first two years of high school. The faculty is then asked for input as to leadership and character. Invitations are extended in the fall of the school year.

NHS meets once a month on the second Wednesday during A lunch. There are many opportunities for service hours presented at each meeting. In addition, the group sponsors the blood drives at Lanphier each year. There are two fundraisers each year and the funds raised are used to present 3-4 scholarships to graduating NHS members.
