Summer Meeting

There will be a meeting in Room 204 on Monday May 20th to discuss the summer schedule for the upcoming tennis season. Hope to see many there!

Tennis Bonfire

There will be a Tennis Bonfire to celebrate the 2012 Lady Lions Tennis season tonight at 7 pm. Contact Coach P for any more details.

Conference

Congratulations to Katie Fitzgerald for placing 6th out of 16 singles players at the 2012 Conference Tournament! Katie won 3 matches and lost 2 on her way to placing higher than other Lanphier player had in years!

Last Match - 3rd Win!

Lanphier got it's 3rd win of the season in a thrilling 5-4 decision against non-conference opponent Shelbyville High School. The Lady Lions got several come behind performances to help seal the win. Junior Deborah Ziogas and Senior Amy Fitzgerald won their matches after going down early. Junior Megan Hull and Senior Kristen Cole controlled their matches from start to finish to secure their wins. The #1 doubles of Amy Fitzgerald and Ashley Cox finished off the scoring with a huge win to help secure victory for the Lady Lions!

One Last Match

There is one last match in the regular season this Monday at Shelbyville. The Lady Lions will be facing the Lady Rams in a re-match of a non-conference showdown that the Lions won 5-4 a few weeks ago. For some Lady Lions this will be there last chance to prove themselves before the season ends. For others this will be the last chance to get more experience before conference begins next Friday and Sectionals the Friday after that.

Tough Loss

Lanphier played a hard fought contest but lost to Decatur MacArthur 6-3. Scoring points for Lanphier was senior Ashley Cox in perhaps her most impressive win of her career, Deborah Ziogas in #3 singles, and Kristen Cole in #4 singles.
Lanphier will next be in action at home Monday against Jacksonville. This is Lanphier's senior night so senior parents as well as all other parents are welcomed to attend.

Victory is Sweeter the 2nd Time!

The Lady Lions won their 2nd match of the season by beating Southeast 6-3 away at Southeast. The Lions were led by Katie Fitzgerald in #1 singles and Amy Fitzgerald and Kristen Cole in #2 doubles. Others scoring points for the Lions were Deborah Ziogas, Ashley Cox, and Megan Hull. Good job Lions! Rival Decatur MacArthur is up next!!!

Tough Start to a Long Week

The Lady Lions started off a week of 4 matches in 4 days with a loss to St. Teresa in Decatur. Scoring points for the Lady Lions were Sarah Ziogas, with a comback victory and her first win in #6 singles, and the doubles team of Jasmine Walls and Emily Puyear winning #3 doubles. The Lady Lions will be Lincoln tomorrow.

Team Pictures

Lady Lions and parents, we will be having team pictures tomorrow at the LHS Tennis Courts at 4:00 pm.

Victory is Sweet!

The Lady Lions won their first match of the season 5-4 over visiting Shelbyville. Sophomore Katie Fitzgerald won her 5th straight number one singles match and Senior Ashley Cox won her second straight number 2 singles match. Junior Deborah Ziogas won number four singles and Senior Kristen won her first singles match of the season. The win was brought home by the number one doubles team of Ashley Cox and Amy Fitzgerald. Amazing job Lady Lions!

Home vs. Macomb

Lanphier faced Macomb in non-tournament action last night at the Lanphier tennis courts. Despite taking a team loss Katie Fitzgerald won her fourth straight #1 singles match and Ashley Cox turned in an outstanding performance in winning #2 singles. Freshmen Emily Puyear and Sarah Ziogas got some beneficial playing time in the loss. The girls are in action tomorrow at home against Shelbyville

The Jacksonville Invite

On Saturday at the Jacksonville Invite the Lady Lions had a strong showing. The Lions were led by the outstanding performance of Sophomore Katy Fitzgerald's 5th place finish in #1 singles. Junior Deborah Ziogas place 9th in #2 singles and the senior duo of Amy Fitzgerald and Ashley Cox placed 9th in #1 doubles. Good job Lady Lions tennis!

2012 Lady Lions Season Has Begun!

The 2012 Lady Lions are led by sophomore Katy Fitzgerald and senior captain Ashley Cox. So far Juniors Deborah Ziogas and Megan Hull have had early success in the season. Seniors Kristen Cole and Amy Fitzgerald round out the top 6.

The Lady Lions have managed to grab a point from Rochester and Chatham early in the season. Next up is Chatham High School and the Jacksonville Tournament after that.

2012 should be an exciting season!
