A comprehensive workshop was held regarding the consequences of using substances and the affect drugs have on the brain. The presenter for the workshop was Paula Gamm-Volpe a Certified Counselor.
The presentation included information on various substances including marijuana, alcohol, heroin, crack, and meth. Each student received written handouts. The presentation stressed the fact that anything put into the body affects the brain. Drugs and chemicals have a negative effect on future outcomes at school, work, and personal life. Drugs affect movement, memory, and communication system of how messages are sent, received and processed. Approximately 93% of crimes are drug related.
