Lisa Funderburg, District 186 Board Member, visited Lawrence Education Center in order to participate in SEWING workshops offered by the Learn & Serve America grant. S.E.W.I .N.G. (Sewing Encourages Wonder, Intelligence, Nurture & Giving) workshops are made available to students by a collaborative Learn & Serve America grant which is provided by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The students appreciated Mrs. Funderburg's involvement with them, and they had a great time showing her the projects that they were working on. She appeared to really enjoy being involved with the students at a grass-roots level. Kudos to Mrs. Funderburg for taking time from her busy day to spend time with the students.
