This Earth Day, FundingFactory ®, the nation’s largest fundraising-by-recycling program for schools and nonprofits, salutes Lawrence Education Center in Springfield, IL as a top recycler. Lawrence Education Center is one of the 22,000 participating schools in the United States.
Since launching the recycling fundraiser on April 5, 2000, Lawrence Education Center has raised hundreds of dollars and kept many pounds of electronics-related waste out of landfills. By recycling printer cartridges, cell phones, and small electronics, Lawrence Education Center is keeping the Earth clean and green while raising funds support the students.
“I’m proud of the recycling efforts put forth by our students and faculty,” said Michele Romence, of Lawrence Education Center. "To date we have kept out of landfills: CELPHONES - 17 Units (3.400 lbs); INK - 380 Units (54.720 lbs); LASER JET CARTRIDGES - 217 Units (591.542 lbs). This totals - 614 Units (649.662 lbs). Wow!"
