Lawrence Education Center hosted the Springfield Chamber of Commerce's Good Morning, Springfield! on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. This is the Chamber’s monthly morning networking program. Business professionals gather each month to enjoy breakfast, updates from community leaders, timely programs and the latest Chamber news.
Chamber members were invited to tour the Lawrence Memorial Library designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Susan Lawrence Dana requested Frank Lloyd Wright to design the library in honor of her father, a former president of the Springfield School Board. From the library was drawn the theme for the event. Decorations and floral displays were presented to reflect the colors and designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.
A live remote radio broadcast was held throughout the entire event. The broadcast included a live interview of some members of the Chamber of Commerce. Also, members of Lawrence educational staff were interviewed. The interviews provided an opportunity for Lawrence to showcase their educational programs. The programs covered on the live broadcast included High School Diploma, GED, School of Business, ESL, Food safety & Sanitation Certification, Prepare Youth to Work, Family Literacy, volunteer tutoring, student internships, job shadowing, and job placement. Also, featured in the live broadcast were interviews of “real life stories.” The interviews included a tutoring volunteer, a Lawrence student, and a former School of Business student. These real life interviews reflected the successful outcome of the programs at Lawrence.
