On March 29, 2011, a group of students and faculty from Lawrence Education Center attended the Adult Education and Literacy Legislative Awareness Day rally at the Illinois State Capitol.
A bus full of students and staff had a great time during the rally, when Lawrence Education Center joined hundreds of other adult education students from across the state to hear speeches, cheer, and rally about how adult education is impacting students and why it is successful in the state of Illinois.
Students were able to enter the Capital's chambers and watch our legislators in action. During the rally, Lawrence Education Center's own Chelsea LaMotte was one of the featured speakers. She gave an inspiring speech on how Lawrence Education Center helped her to get back on and stay on the right path to success. Many pictures were taken in order to capture the moments, and Springfield Pepsi-Cola donated bottled water for us to enjoy after the event. Fun was had by all. The students can't wait to attend again next year!
