The Prepare Youth to Work (PYTW) program provides learning for students ages 16-21 who live in Sangamon County. Upon completion of this program, these students will have acquired the skills needed to gain and retain employment. PYTW offers students the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or GED. Students who are qualified for the program are given opportunities to participate in job shadowing experiences, internships, and summer job opportunities.

To qualify for the PYTW program students must:
* Be between the ages of 16-21
* Not be currently attending school
* Meet the WIA eligibility requirements

PYTW students will participate in various work-related field trips and will also benefit from a variety of guest speakers who come to Lawrence Education Center to share information regarding occupational skills.

The program incorporates technology through the use of computer software, and the curriculum is supplemented with daily group discussions on relevant topics. PYTW also offers business classes to students who already have their high school diploma or GED and who would like to obtain more skills to become job ready.

Participants in the program will have an opportunity to earn incentives based on completing course requirements.

For more information about the PYTW program, contact Lynn Wagy between the hours of 10:00 - 2:00 in Room 212 or call 525-3233 x226.
