Today, Ms. Zimmers and Mrs. Heyen will be presenting with educators from the National Smithsonian. This is the first in a series of six online conference sessions with the Smithsonian Shout Program. Lincoln Magnet School will be featured in each of the sessions.
Congressman Schock and his educational liaison were impressed with Lincoln Magnet School and offered his support as LMS formed a partnership with the Smithsonian during our recent trip to Washington D.C. for the National Blue Ribbon Ceremony.
LMS students will be interacting online with experts, sharing ideas, and collaborating with communities around the world who are committed to solving environmental challenges. Throughout the sessions our teachers will be interacting with colleagues worldwide and their lessons and student examples will be showcased on the Smithsonian website as a model for curriculum integration and collaboration.
Our mission is to help students become outstanding global citizens while building the 21st-century skills of collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking. Through technology and challenge-based learning we are empowering students to develop action plans and take charge of their learning. Our digital natives are taking their learning far beyond the school walls.
We are very excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to the many new opportunities that will be available for our students through this amazing partnership.
Congratulations to our entire sixth grade team on an amazing project!!
