Frequently Asked Parent Questions:
Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is online, go to the Girls on the Run of Central Illinois’ website: www.GOTRcentralillinois.org to register.
Q: Is financial assistance available, and if so, how do I apply?
A: Yes, you must apply for a scholarship BEFORE you fill out your registration. The scholarship form appears on the registration page above the registration form.
Q: What is the cost?
A: The cost of the program is $135 and your child receives: 20 lessons, 1 hour and 15 minutes in length, conducted by a certified coach; lesson handouts and materials, program t-shirt, 5K event registration, end of season celebration, finisher’s medal, and much more! There are also scholarships available to those who need it.
Q: Do girls need to like running to sign up for the program?
A: No, we do not focus on speed or competition; we like to say we “sneak” running into fun workouts, interactive games and motivational techniques. We fully expect that girls may need to do some walking, and not everyone will be a “runner” initially. Because our program is non-competitive, we attract girls of all shapes, sizes and abilities and just ask them to try their best.
Q: How long is your program?
A: Our 10-week program begins the week of Sept. 9th, and meets twice per week for 90 minutes. Our fall season runs from September through November. At the end of the season, there is a 5k run/walk on November 9th for all the girls.
Q: Does my daughter have to attend the school where the program is offered?
A: No. Girls are welcome to attend any program at any school that fits within their schedule.
