Count Baise was one of the many Afican American artist to strive when world war 1 took place. The incredible musical "Shaft Along" written by and staring African Americans became a "Smash hit!" on Broadway. Langston Hughes was also one of the amazing writers in that time period and due to his folksy humor he was given the nickname The Ohenry of Harlem!
