6 days ago The response to April’s problem was fantastic. Congrats to everyone for trying. A special pat on the back goes to those students who got the correct answer. There were 323 students who submitted answers. There were 163 students who came up with the correct answer along with valid explanations (31 sixth graders, 72 seventh graders, and 60 eighth graders). There were also 14 Honorable Mentions. These students gave a partially correct answer or made mistakes in their explanations. READ MORE
May 6, 2013 It's been a great year and our time together has come to an end. We encourage all of our students to continue fostering their interest in math and science. To our 8th graders, come back and see us sometime! To our 7th graders, we'll see you in the fall!
Apr 12, 2013 The IMSA Fusion meeting on April 19th has been cancelled. The meeting on April 26th will be our final meeting of the year. Check back for more details.
Apr 8, 2013 This Wednesday, April 10th, the IMSA Fusion students will be traveling to the St. Louis Science Center. We will leave LMS at 8:00am and return at 5:00pm. Activity busses will be available. Students will be responsible for their own lunch. They may purchase lunch at the Science Center, bring a sack lunch or order a sack lunch from the LMS cafeteria. Mar 22, 2013 Measurements of the length of bones in order to determine the height of the individual form the basis of, Do the Bones Tell a Story? The students will: • measure the length of bones to approximate the height of the victim • calculate the length of other bones (in cm) that may be recovered from the site • use scientific methods and logical thinking skills to evaluate evidence • be given additional evidence that will help them to determine whose remains have been found
