The eighth-grade students will participate in the Illinois History Fair. The Illinois History Fair is an annual statewide competition which gives middle school and high school students (grades 6-12) much deserved recognition by researching state and local history through writing a research paper and an opportunity to win awards. Lincoln Magnet school will host our own History Fair, and then advance the exemplary research papers to the Regional History Fair which will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The research papers judged to be superior at the Regional History Fair will advance to the statewide Illinois History Exposition held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, in Springfield at the Convention Center. The Illinois History Fair is an excellent and exciting academic competition which improves student learning skills and also complements our eighth-grade learning standards. Students will improve research methods as they explore Illinois' rich history and share their newly acquired knowledge with classmates, parents, and teachers from across the state. The recognition students receive from their community, school, and family for academic achievement is meaningful and valuable.
