Today, students of OME experienced “The Great American Solar Eclipse." It is the first time since 1918 a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the entire continental United States. Owen Marsh Elementary planned a viewing opportunity to allow students to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event. Some students watched it inside watching on live stream video and others had the opportunity to go outside to view it.
Solar eclipses offer us a powerful reminder of our place in the cosmos as we go about our daily lives: we sit on a small planet speeding around a gigantic Sun, whirling through the alaxy. The amazing thing about science is that we can now understand this phenomenon, predict when it happens, and learn from it.
