Storyteller Dan Keding Visits McClernand

Apr 10, 2013 On Tuesday, April 9, McClernand had the pleasure of hosting a storyteller, Dan Keding for an all school assembly. Mr. Keding told of tales from around the world, played his banjo, and played the spoons! He also worked more in depth with fourth graders on vocabulary.

African American Wax Museum

Apr 10, 2013 Students at McClernand in grades 3, 4, and 5 were given an opportunity to participate in a wax museum for Black History month. They spent February and March learning about famous African Americans and working on their projects.

African American Assembly

Mar 11, 2013 McClernand held an African American Assembly in honor of Black History Month on February 26. Students in all grades contributed to the assembly by sharing facts about famous African Americans through a variety of ways. These ways included poems, songs, readers' theater, and reports.

Mid Year Awards Assembly

Mar 11, 2013 McClernand had a mid year awards assembly on February 5 at 10:30 a.m. Students were honored for having the most improvement in reading or math, having good attendance, being referral free for the semester, and excellence in art/music/p.e.

New Shoes For McClernand Students

Jan 7, 2013 Every student at McClernand received some early holiday cheer from Westside Christian Church on Thursday, December 13. Each student received a new pair of tennis shoes. Every pair was unique and chosen especially for them by church members. Thank you Westside Christian Church!

Toy Distribution for Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students

Jan 7, 2013 On Tuesday, December 11, McClernand students in kindergarten and first grade had the pleasure of receiving toys donated by Northstar Lottery Group. It was an exciting day. Thanks Northstar!

McClernand Holiday Program

Jan 7, 2013 Our holiday music program was held on Thursday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. All grade levels participated in the music program, created and led by our music teacher Mrs. Garcia.

Star Readers at McClernand

Sep 14, 2012 McClernand students that returned their summer reading logs painted a star on the sidewalk in front of the school building. Students also received a free book and will participate in a pizza party at the Northside Children's Community Library.
