On Friday September 18th students were not in attendance at Southeast High School but that didn't mean work stopped. Teaching staff were engaged in a school improvement inservice day working on the instructional focus and promising practices of the building. Teachers worked in collaborative groups to develop ideas on communicating and promoting the instructional focus, "Reading to learn across the curriculum." They also discussed how to utilize the promising practices of, Setting a clear purpose and building background knowledge before, during, and after reading, Using graphic organizers to aid in reading comprehension, Focusing on vocabulary instruction.
