Yesterday, we had the Honorable Judge Matthew J. Maurer speak to Business Law 335 students. Judge Maurer is an Associate Judge Head of Family Division and Associate Judge of Juvenile Court. He shared with us his educational experiences through the U of I Law School, being an Assistant State’s Attorney, running his private law practice, being an Assistant Public Defender, and First Assistant State’s Attorney. His experiences were broad and informative. Students seemed particularly interested in his work as both a criminal defense attorney and criminal prosecutor. We look forward to seeing him on our field trip to the courthouse.
Also, a big shout out to Ms. Shoemaker (Jack Riba’s 1-on-1 aide). She coordinated Judge Maurer’s visit. It is her brother, and she previously worked as a paralegal in his law office. Her assistance in making other courses more relevant and enjoyable is appreciated.
