Senior Morgan Williams on Thursday advanced to the finals of the national Poetry Out Loud contest in Washington, D.C. She will be one of nine students competing Friday evening.

Morgan earned $500 for the school in the Illinois statewide contest. On Thursday she earned another $500 for the school as well as a minimum $1000 scholarship.

The finals can be seen streaming live on the Internet from 6-8 pm Friday.
