The SHS Scholastic Bowl team competed in the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament over Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta. The team finished Saturday's preliminary competion with a 6 and 4 record, the best finish in team history. The 6 wins qualified them for the Sunday playoffs where they were eliminated in round one by the 2010 national champions from Maggie Walker's Govenors School of Virginia. The team finished in a tie for 71st overall in the 240 team tournament and finished tied for 7th out of the 13 Illinois schools that competed. Springfield's team members were seniors Johnny Smith, Max Havey, Neil Parker and Marlana Jackson, junior Patrick Northrup and sophomore Jackson Myers. Congratulations to the team on a great finish to a wonderful season.
