The University of Illinois Lincolnland Illini Club is offering 2 $750 scholarships toward tuition. A 200 word essay entitled
“Why U of I” is the requirement. Due May 11.
The Family Service Center is offering a scholarship for students who were in foster care or are adopted. Applications due April 30. See Mrs. Povse for these applications.

All seniors: As you receive scholarships or merit awards from private sources, colleges and universities please inform Mrs. Povse so she can post them on the scholarship board.
Senior minority students who are applying for the Springfield Urban League scholarship - Be sure that you note the new essay prompt, "Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school.” The prompt on the website was from last year.
Representatives from the Capital Area Career Center will be in the commons during lunch on March 29. Stop by their table and get information about CACC.
SENIORS: The Sangamon County Dept. of Community Resources is offering a Scholarship for Low-Income College Entries (SLICE). This is for students with substantial financial need. See Mrs. Povse for application and income guidelines. Deadline is May 4.
Any scholarship with a deadline that occurs during spring break should be turned in to Mrs. Povse by Thursday, March 29.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Mar. 27, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Mar. 26. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Attention Freshmen who went to the D.M.V. to get their permit, you must turn your permit receipt into Ms. Dvorak ASAP or you will not be able to take Behind the Wheel.
Kids First Sports is looking for summer umpires. If you are interested in umpiring summer baseball games you can pick up an application outside of Mrs. Devlin’s office - room 121.
Packets for students interested in trying out for the Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleading squads for the 2012-2013 seasons are now available in the Main Office. There will be a mandatory tryout meeting on April 11th at 5:30pm in the SHS commons. Tryouts will be held April 16th-21st. Any questions contact Coach Povse in room 160.

Looking for a chance to improve on your dancing before prom? Join us tonight at “Swing into Spring” from 6:30-9:30 in the SHS Commons. The evening will begin with dancing instructions from local dance instructor Pat Lyttaker with dancing to follow- featuring the SHS jazz bands to perfect those new dance steps. Doors open 6:15, admission $5.00 at the door. Sponsored by SHS Band Parents Association.
Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th there will be a bake sale during both lunch shifts in the commons. The baked goods will be sold for 50 cents. All of the money raised will be put towards buying new board games and crafts for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.

The Superintendent Roundtable Commission Group will not meet on Monday, March 26, 2012. The meeting has been cancelled due to a Budget Work Session.
Attention all high school students. The Illinois State Board of Education is conducting a short survey for on bullying and its negative effects on students and staff. We will be conducting this survey at lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. It is an electronic survey so there will be laptops set up for all of the students. So come by during lunch, grab a computer, and take a short survey for a good cause. Thank You and if you have any questions, talk to Abhinav Brahmamdam.
The Girls Soccer Team defeated Riverton 8-0. Olivia Rosen, Julia Rosen, Taylor Camacho, Alex Carney, and Elaina Conley-Keck scored for the Senators. The JV Girls recorded a 6-0 victory over Riverton. Katie Stuva and Alyssa Jackson earned shut-outs.
