SENIORS: On Thursday, May 10 seniors will have an assembly 2nd or 5th hour regarding all things SENIOR: recognition, graduation, future plans, caps and gowns, FINES and more. If you have received any scholarships please be prepared to have the name of the scholarship and the amount received. Mrs. Povse will have an exit survey for you to fill out. During lunch on that day all seniors will be able to indicate their decision for college, tech school, work, military or whatever on the map that will be in the commons. Be prepared to make your flag and post it where you will be in the fall of 2012.
The following scholarships are now available from Mrs. Povse: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority- 3.0 unweighted GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due June 30; Phi Beta Sigma, 2.5 minimum GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due July 1.

B-DUBS wants to know if you can take the heat?!?!! They are bringing a Street Team to SHS After Prom to host Wings Eating Contests. There will be 5 different games with 8 contestants each. Along with the pride of being crowned champion, there will be PRIZES awarded to the winners for each game. Don't miss this chance to impress your date with your mad skills! Sign ups will be in the Commons over lunch on May 8 & 9. Please note that if you are under 18, a permission waiver will need to be signed by your parents and returned to the school office. This evening is opening night for “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. Shows start at 7:30 this evening and tomorrow evening. Sunday’s performance is at 2:00. Tickets are available in the main office or at the door before each show. Take a trip to New York City circa 1922 and visit the SHS Big Apple tonight to meet Millie and all of her Thoroughly Modern friends.
Attention German and Spanish Club! If you would like to play paintball on Saturday, May 12, please sign up after school with your club sponsor, either Herr Koeppel or Senor Kniffin. Make sure you are bringing a non-refundable deposit of $10. Sign-ups are until Thursday, May 3. We can have only 20 participate per club, so hurry!
All SENIOR NHS members are to see Mrs. Hubbard or Ms. Elmore this week to fill out a college information form to be read at the Golden Laurel reception.
We are in the final month of high school with our seniors! For that special senior that you will miss so much, the Class of 2014 is offering a chance for you to "Kiss A Senior Goodbye" for only $1. You can write a personal note attached to a bag of chocolate kisses, which we will deliver to your special senior the next week. Show your senior friends the love and send lots of kisses goodbye! A table will be setup in the Commons during both lunch shifts next Monday-Friday. Don't forget to stop by!

To all students running for election today. There will be no speeches due to the lack of class participation and candidates. Elections will still be held in the commons during both lunch shifts today. Promote yourself with flyers, notes, etc .
The Lady Senators Track and Field team finished second in the Central State 8 conference track meet last night. Leading the Senators were Kirby Hale, a double winner in the 800 and 1600, Miriam Agamah 1st in the 400, and Maggie Cornelius 1st in the 3200 and 3rd in the 1600. Finishing second for the Lady Senators were the 4 x 200 team of Micheala Pattie, Deonna Macklin, April Shaw, and Bri Wilkins, the 4 x 400 team of Hale, Kropid, Maddie McCarty, and Agamah. Christina Kropid in the 800, Maddie McCarty in the high jump, Deonna Macklin in the high hurdles and Micheala Pattie 3rd in the 100 and 200. Great effort ladies.
SHS finished first overall at the Raider relays in Bloomington. Event Champions for SHS were the 4x100 Relay of Nick Howell, Peter Bremhorst, Dalton Timm, and Malik Harrison (43.0); the Spring Medley team of Quazara Prather, Danan Beedie, Peter Bremhorst, and Luke Farley (1:37.1); The Shot Put Relay of James Torgerson, James Brown, and Josh Goff (134-8.25); and the 4x400 team of Nick Howell, Dalton Timm, Peter Bremhorst, and Malik Harrison broke the school record, and meet record with a winning time of 3:19.6.
