SENIORS: On Thursday, May 10 seniors will have an assembly 2nd or 5th hour regarding all things SENIOR: recognition, graduation, future plans, caps and gowns, FINES and more. If you have received any scholarships please be prepared to have the name of the scholarship and the amount received. Mrs. Povse will have an exit survey for you to fill out. During lunch on that day all seniors will be able to indicate their decision for college, tech school, work, military or whatever on the map that will be in the commons. Be prepared to make your flag and post it where you will be in the fall of 2012.
The following scholarships are now available from Mrs. Povse: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority- 3.0 unweighted GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due June 30; Phi Beta Sigma, 2.5 minimum GPA, 3 letters of recommendation, essay, due July 1.
SENIORS, FACULTY & STAFF: Join in the fun on Decision Day tomorrow and wear something designating your post- secondary choice. Wear a t-shirt from your college, your branch of military, your tech school or wear the clothes you will wear to work. Then come out to the commons during lunch and see on the map where the seniors will be next fall.
B-DUBS wants to know if you can take the heat?!?!! They are bringing a Street Team to SHS After Prom to host Wings Eating Contests. There will be 5 different games with 8 contestants each. Along with the pride of being crowned champion, there will be PRIZES awarded to the winners for each game. Don't miss this chance to impress your date with your mad skills! Sign ups will be in the Commons over lunch on May 8 & 9. Please note that if you are under 18, a permission waiver will need to be signed by your parents and returned to the school office. All library books are due back by Thursday May 10. Seniors please make sure all books are returned and lost items paid for before Cap and Gown Day.
Attention German and Spanish Club! If you would like to play paintball on Saturday, May 12, please sign up after school with your club sponsor, either Herr Koeppel or Senor Kniffin. Make sure you are bringing a non-refundable deposit of $10. Sign-ups are until Thursday, May 3. We can have only 20 participate per club, so hurry!
We are in the final month of high school with our seniors! For that special senior that you will miss so much, the Class of 2014 is offering a chance for you to "Kiss A Senior Goodbye" for only $1. You can write a personal note attached to a bag of chocolate kisses, which we will deliver to your special senior the next week. Show your senior friends the love and send lots of kisses goodbye! A table will be setup in the Commons during both lunch shifts next Monday-Friday. Don't forget to stop by!

The softball team picked up their third win of the season by beating the Lady Spartans at Southeast 8 - 6 last night. Morgan Throop and Maria Genovese each had three hits and two runs batted in to lead the offense, while Claire Varney went the distance on the mound to pick up the victory. Today, Southeast comes to UIS for the rematch beginning at 4:30.
The JV Girls Soccer team will turn in uniforms and have an informational meeting Wednesday, May 9th at 3:30 in room 404.
Anyone interested in Cross Country next Fall there will be a 5 minute meeting on Monday, May 14 after school in the commons. If you are out for a Spring sport and cannot attend please see Coach Devlin before the end of the school year.
The SHS Boys freshmen/sophomore track team finished 5th at the Lanphier Fresh/Soph Invite. Event winners for SHS were: Patrick Fitzgibbon in the 1600, and David Sias in the 800. Sias' time broke the meet record as well. The Boys track team will next compete at the central state 8 track and field meet on Friday night. Field Events begin at 4:30, with running finals at 6:00. Come out and support the SHS track Team Friday night!!
