Yesterday at Lincoln Greens the boys golf team won their first Regional Championship of the 21st Century, beating runner-up SHG by 4 strokes and third place finisher Glenwood by 19. Freshman Bailey Gill and sophomore Sam Funderburg both posted 77's to lead the Senators, while seniors Mitchell Connolley and Jack Campas both came in at 78. Monday, the Senators will play at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in the Carbondale sectional.
The SHS Volleyball team defeated Rochester last night in 3 games. Courtney Pence led with 21 kills and Sarah Sepanski added 15 . Mady McCarty had 36 assists. The girls play Peoria High away this Thursday.
The Cross Country team competed in the City Meet yesterday afternoon at Lincoln Park. The Freshmen boys won the team title with Logan Besalke finishing in 1st place. The SHS Girls XC team won another City title with Sophia Gullo leading the way with a 2nd place finish followed by 5 more SHS girls sweeping the next 5 places. The SHS Boys XC team had a perfect score to win another city title. Nathan Hoffman finished 1st following by 4 more SHS Boys to sweep the next 4 places. Congrats to all XC athletes.
Congratulations to the girls swim team for their blowout against Centennial High School last night at Eisenhower Pool. The final score was 109-64. The girls swept all three relays as well as diving. Individual winners last night were: Natalie Knox, Libby Opfer, Madison Milling, Megan Wilkey and Lesley McLaferrty. The girls take on SHG on Saturday at Eisenhower Pool at 1pm.
