The cold temperatures continue to dominate Springfield and the Midwest – make sure you are dressed appropriately for school and getting to and from school. Bundle up and please check the SHS and District web site for any school or activity cancellations.
If you are planning to attend a boys basketball game, you will need to enter the Annex through the NORTH doors only, near the commons off of Washington Street. Everyone goes through a security check point where wanding and purse/backpack searches will be conducted. Leave all bags at home, if possible. More information is available on the SHS web site.
Attention juniors and seniors: A current Harvard University student (and 2016 Southeast H.S. graduate) will be coming to present on Monday, January 8th during 7th period. She will be speaking about admissions, financial aid, and student life/ opportunities. If you are interested please sign up outside the post secondary office, room 153A or see Mrs. Lauer with questions. Remember as you prepare for the April SAT, remember the average scores to get into Harvard range between 1400-1600!
Attention juniors and seniors: The army recruiters will be making a presentation during 5th period on Tuesday, January 16th. If you are interested in learning more about the military please sign up outside the post secondary office or see Mrs. Lauer for details.
FREE 5-week ACT Prep Class for 10th & 11th graders!! The class will be facilitated by Lincoln Land Community College staff. If you are interested, please sign-up in the Guidance Office during lunch, before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Jan. 12. FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Jan. 16, 8:30am-2 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Jan. 12. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. The Lady Senator basketball team got back on their winning ways by beating Southeast 68 to 33. SHS was led by Ozzy Erewele with 16 points, Abby Ratsch added 14, and Savannah Schoeben and Maya Fetter each chipped in 13. Next up for SHS is a home game tomorrow night against U-High with the varsity game at 6:30.
There will be a softball open gym on Sunday at SHS from 1-2:30 for anyone interested.
Calling all those who just can't stand still. All dancers, singers, and actors: come and try out for SHS's spring Musical "Footloose". Auditions are January 30 from 4 - 8 and callbacks are on February 1. Audition forms and other information are online. Look at the SHS homepage and to the right there is a link to follow to get to most of the information and the audition form. More information will be given throughout, so continue to visit that link.
