Ninth grade students who are interested in applying for the P4 physicians preparatory pipeline program need to stop by the guidance office to pick the application information sheet. The application deadline is September 25th.
Senior Photo Information - Seniors and early graduates are required to have their official picture taken by Grussenmeyer’s Photography. The photo must be taken by December 15, 2018. Grussenmeyer’s is located at 41 Pinehurst drive, 787-6688 and requires a $15 sitting fee with no pressure to make additional purchases. This year, we encourage all seniors to have their portrait taken at school. Grussenmeyer’s will be at SHS for senior pictures on:

All juniors interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 10th, should bring $18 to the guidance office to sign up by tomorrow. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.
Any student interested in Scholastic Bowl should meet Coach Teichman in the Science wing on Thursday, September 13th at 3:20 for first round tryouts. Contact Teichman if you cannot attend. A parent meeting will be held on September 13th at 5:30 in the Library for Scholastic Bowl.
Support the class of 2019’s prom efforts and have dinner at Chipotle tomorrow from 4-8. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Tuesday’s Children an organization that provides assistance to 9/11 families and first responders. Come out and show your Solon spirit.
WWII is currently raging in room 328, if you want to participate in the carnage and mayhem join the Historical Game Club. We meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during A and B lunches. We play Risk, Axis and Allies, Stratego, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and even Uno. Everyone is welcome if they want to play a game.
The 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook is on sale now in room 254 at a cost of $60 each. To order yours, bring your check, money order or cash to room 254. In January, the cost for each will be $70. Seniors the cost to put your baby pictures in this year's yearbook is $10. Bring your pictures and the $10 fees to room 254. Also, Senior Superlatives' Nomination Forms are due to Tayli Shekleton or Mrs. Eslahi by October 1.
The boys golf team finished tied for 6th out of 39 teams in the rain shortened Mattoon Invite last weekend. Zach Richmond shot a 2 under par 70 and finished tied for 2nd. Adler Boatman fired a 75, Jack Zerfas an 80, and Aaron Evans an 85. Today, the Senators host Glenwood at Lincoln Greens. Match starts at 4:00.
Volleyball team placed 8th at the Lincoln volleyball tournament on Saturday. SHS defeated Belleville East in a hard fought match but lost to Limestone in a 3 set match in the 7th place game.
Any student interested in Art Club are invited to come to room 233 after school Thursday September 13th from 3:30-4:30 to hear what it’s all about. Hope to see you there!
The Girls Swim team had a fantastic invite on Saturday - congrats to our swimming Senators; Junior Katie Bilinsky took 1st in 1 meter diving; Sophomore Kayleigh Minder took 1st in her heat and set a personal record in the 50 freestyle; Sophomore Lili Tohme set a new personal record in the 200 freestyle; Senior Healy Funderburg took 6th overall in the 100 butterfly and set a personal record, and took 5th overall in the 500 freestyle; Sophomore Madeline Sievers took 4th overall in the 50 backstroke; Freshman Maddie Owczarzak took third in her heat in the 50 freestyle; Sophomore Brooklyn Kosek took first and freshman Alexandra Bradley took second in their heat of the 50 freestyle; Freshman Carlee Jones cut 9 seconds off of her 50 freestyle time and set a new personal record; Juniors Rhiannon Roberts and Grace Anders took first and second in their heats of the 100 freestyle; Freshman Alexandra Bradley took first in her heat of the 50 breaststroke; The 200 Freestyle relay of Senior Lara Faesaler, Junior Delaynee O’Brian, Sophomore Brooklyn Kosek and Freshman Carlee Jones swam a best time; The team took 6th overall and did a fantastic job! The next meet is Wednesday after school at 4pm at SEHS Eisenhower Pool and the swimming senators always love support!
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday, September 18th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch in the Commons, and before school or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday. September 14th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience.
