Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, October 29, 2018

There will be no pizza sales on Thursday.  Instead, Be A Senator is acknowledging all students who had no tardies and no referrals during the 1st quarter by giving them a free slice of pizza and a soda. Check the lists outside of Guidance to see if you qualified. If you are on the list, visit the annex during your lunch period for your reward. Thank you for Being A Senator! 

Order your 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.

Spanish club members, the deadline for the t-shirt contest is Thursday, so turn in your designs ASAP.  You can turn it into Mr Reichert’s room.

The dodgeball tournament has been postponed until we can get more students to sign up.  We will let you know the new date as soon as possible.

Attention All Senators:  Would you like to win 2 prom tickets?  Donate any amount to the United Way from now until Friday.  All donations of $5 or more enters you into a prize drawing for 2 free prom tickets. Donations will be accepted in the commons during lunch, or see Mrs. Williams.  Thanks in advance for your support and good luck!

Atención Spanish Club! There will be a mandatory meeting after school tomorrow in room 260. See you there!

Free T-shirts for Blood Donors!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday, Nov 13, 8:30 am-2 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thursday, Nov 8. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

The SHS Photo Video Club will be meeting Wednesday right after school in the commons. We will continue writing on our short films. Also, please remember that club fees and t-shirt orders are due! As always we are looking for new members, so if you have an interest in anything photo or video check us out!

The cross country team competed in the sectional meet on Saturday at Hickory point golf club.  The girls team ended there season with a 9th place finish. Varsha Iyer was the top finisher for SHS. Congratulations for a great season girls!!
The boys team finished 2nd and qualified to the state meet. Kyle Boughter was the top finisher for SHS. Congratulations boys!!

Any student still interested in going on the Germany, France, and Spain trip this summer, the deadline to sign up is this Wednesday.  If you are interested please see Mr. Telger in room 312 for details so you don’t miss out on this great opportunity. 

The varsity football season came to an end on Saturday in Palos Heights. The team fought valiantly but was unable to overcome a big 1st half deficit and fell 36-51. Coach Gully would like to thank his seniors for great careers and thank every single person who supported the team during their highs and lows this season. The season ended on a sour note, but we will always have fond memories of Homecoming

The boys soccer team advanced to the Super Sectional Championship with a 2-1 victory over Champaign Central. Wolf Brethorst scored for the Senators. Great job boys!!
