Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Picture retake is November 19th.

There will be no pizza sales tomorrow.  Instead, Be A Senator is acknowledging all students who had no tardies and no referrals during the 1st quarter by giving them a free slice of pizza and a soda. Check the lists outside of Guidance to see if you qualified. If you are on the list, visit the annex during your lunch period for your reward. Thank you for Being A Senator! 

Order your 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.

Spanish club members, the deadline for the t-shirt contest is tomorrow, so turn in your designs ASAP.  You can turn it into Mr Reichert’s room.

Attention All Senators:  Would you like to win 2 prom tickets?  Donate any amount to the United Way from now until Friday.  All donations of $5 or more enters you into a prize drawing for 2 free prom tickets. Donations will be accepted in the commons during lunch, or see Mrs. Williams.  Thanks in advance for your support and good luck!

The SHS Photo Video Club will be meeting today right after school in the commons. We will continue writing on our short films. Also, please remember that club fees and t-shirt orders are due! As always we are looking for new members, so if you have an interest in anything photo or video check us out!

Any student still interested in going on the Germany, France, and Spain trip this summer, the deadline to sign up is today.  If you are interested please see Mr. Telger in room 312 for details so you don’t miss out on this great opportunity. 

Art Club will be meeting tomorrow after school until 4:30 pm.

GSA will meet tomorrow after school in Mrs. Eaton”s room 366. 

If you are interested in a career in plumbing, as an electrician, bricklayer, mason, carpenter or many other skilled trade there is an event SHS will be attending that's perfect for you. On November 13th from 12:30-3:30 we will be attending the Building Trades Apprenticeships and Careers Day at the BOS Center that will have members from local trade unions doing presentations and you will have the opportunity for hands on learning. Permission slips can be picked up with Mr. Kramer in 153A. Any questions or you want to voice your interest see Mr. Kramer.

The United States Military Academy at West Point will be conducting an informational meeting in Springfield on Wednesday, November 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the offices of the Association of Illinois Cooperatives, 6460 6th St. Frontage Road E, Springfield Illinois. This meeting is designed to introduce students and parents to West Point and includes the admission process and educational opportunities available. This information is most applicable to sophomores and juniors as the deadline for the class of 2019 has already passed, although seniors are welcome to attend.
 
Feminist Club Meeting tomorrow after school until 4:00 in Ms. Moon’s room, 364. Hope to see you there! 

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Nov 13, 8:30am-2 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thu., Nov. 8. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

The boys soccer team came to an end last night with a 2-0 loss to Waterloo Gibault. The boys finished 23-6-1 and 8-1 in the CS8. Coach Phillips would like to thank the seniors for a tremendous career in the Senator uniform, 4 CS8 Championships and 3 Elite 8 Playoff runs. The team would like to thank Student Council and Senator fans for all their support during the season and playoffs.
