Good morning Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, November 6, 2018

CACC will not be in session on Friday.  Students must still attend their half day at SHS and are expected to be on time for their respective morning or afternoon classes.

Bonjour everyone….Happy National French Week! Did you know that over 275 million people speak French world-wide?! To help celebrate, French Club will be selling bon-bons starting today. Get them while they last.

Picture retake is November 19th.

Order your 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.

If you are interested in a career in plumbing, as an electrician, bricklayer, mason, carpenter or many other skilled trade there is an event SHS will be attending that's perfect for you. On November 13th from 12:30-3:30 we will be attending the Building Trades Apprenticeships and Careers Day at the BOS Center that will have members from local trade unions doing presentations and you will have the opportunity for hands on learning. Permission slips can be picked up with Mr. Kramer in 153A. Any questions or you want to voice your interest see Mr. Kramer.

The United States Military Academy at West Point will be conducting an informational meeting in Springfield tomorrow from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  The meeting will be held at the offices of the Association of Illinois Cooperatives, 6460 6th St. Frontage Road E, Springfield Illinois. This meeting is designed to introduce students and parents to West Point and includes the admission process and educational opportunities available. This information is most applicable to sophomores and juniors as the deadline for the class of 2019 has already passed, although seniors are welcome to attend.
 
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday., November 13th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 8th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Calling all junior and senior young women! Want to meet new people, serve your community and get ready for the next stage of your life, while having a have a whole of fun? Then stop by and sign-up at the “ Fashioneta" table  in the Commons during lunch with the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on Thursday to learn more.

Congratulations to Paige Witkowski who won 2 SHS Prom tickets in our United Way prize drawing. See Mrs. Williams for ticket details.  Thanks to everyone who donated. 

SAVE THE DATE! On December 1st from 6-11pm Sangamon CEO is hosting a Haunted Sleigh Ride at the State Fairgrounds along with cookies, games, and an appearance by Santa for the kids. Come if you dare to take a ride in a nightmare before Christmas! Tickets are $10 and will be sold at upcoming lunch shifts!!

Seniors,  To be included in this year's yearbook, you must turn in your baby pictures in room and take your senior portraits by winter break.  Call 787-6688 to set up a time to take your senior portrait.

The SHS Photo Video club will be meeting tomorrow right after school in the commons to continue writing. Thursday we will be starting something new by meeting in room 233 to start a two part lighting 101 for those interested in portraits and photography.  Not a member of the club? This will be open to new comers if you are interested!

All cross country athletes must turn in their equipment this week to Coach Devlin and pick up a banquet form.
