CACC will not be in session on Friday. Students must still attend their half day at SHS and are expected to be on time for their respective morning or afternoon classes.
This is a friendly reminder to all students that coats, backpacks and blankets are not allowed in classrooms. Those items must be left in lockers, cars or at home. The weather is changing and it’s a good idea to dress in layers or bring a sweatshirt.

The United States Military Academy at West Point will be conducting an informational meeting in Springfield today from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the offices of the Association of Illinois Cooperatives, 6460 6th St. Frontage Road E, Springfield Illinois. This meeting is designed to introduce students and parents to West Point and includes the admission process and educational opportunities available. This information is most applicable to sophomores and juniors as the deadline for the class of 2019 has already passed, although seniors are welcome to attend.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday., November 13th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 8th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Seniors, to be included in this year's yearbook, you must turn in your baby pictures in room 254 and take your senior portraits by winter break. Call 787-6688 to set up a time to take your senior portrait.
The SHS Photo Video club will be meeting today right after school in the commons to continue writing. Tomorrow we will be starting something new by meeting in room 233 to start a two part lighting 101 for those interested in portraits and photography. Not a member of the club? This will be open to new comers if you are interested!
All cross country athletes must turn in their equipment this week to Coach Devlin and pick up a banquet form.
The sign club t-shirts have come in and they can be picked up today during lunch time in the Guidance office - Conference Rm. where Mrs. Gibson will be. Otherwise the next opportunity will be Nov. 19th sign club.
We are having a City T-Shirt Contest that is open to all SHS students. The requirements are as follows, submit your drawing to the box in the main office by Wednesday, November 21st. The winning submission will receive a $50 gift card. A few requirements:
All four schools need to be equally included on the shirt; The design has to include “City Tournament” and “2019”; The design needs to work in either all black or all white to be printed on the shirt; We can only print on one side of the shirt.
If you have not yet picked up the football playoffs shirts you ordered, please do so as soon as possible. You already paid for the stuff, so you might as well pick it up from room 362.
The yearbook staff will be passing out student i.d. pictures today and Friday in the Common during both lunch shifts.
Veteran’s Day is this weekend — NO SCHOOL Monday so we can all honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. But did you know that 90% of those returning from war report that their physical health or emotional problems have interfered with their normal day to day activities. For this reason, Ms. Troike’s work classes will be collecting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. We have chosen this fundraiser to help those wounded while fighting for our freedoms. We will be collecting money during A and B lunch next week Wednesday and Thursday and would appreciate your donation!!!
Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team on sweet victories last night in Conference play! The Varsity swept all three matches, beating Glenwood 520-90, Southeast 410-110, and SHG 500-90! Top scorers for Varsity were Aidan Fein with 300 points, Jack Allen with 90 points and Drew Borland with 70 points. The JV followed suit, with wins over Glenwood 340-180, Southeast 390-130 and SHG 450-240! Top Scorers for the Senators were Maggie Sturm with 140 points and Jack Casey with 100 points. This season is off to a fabulous beginning in Conference play! The Junior Varsity will travel to U-High on Saturday for the Junior Varsity Conference Tournament. There will be practice on Friday from 3:30-4:30 in room 510
