Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, November 8, 2018

CACC will not be in session tomorrow.  Students must still attend their half day at SHS and are expected to be on time for their respective morning or afternoon classes.

This is a friendly reminder to all students that coats, backpacks and blankets are not allowed in classrooms.  Those items must be left in lockers, cars or at home.  The weather is changing and it’s a good idea to dress in layers or bring a sweatshirt.

Bonjour everyone….Happy National French Week! Did you know that over 275 million people speak French world-wide?! To help celebrate, French Club is selling bon-bons. Get them while they last.

Picture retake is November 19th.

Order your 2018-2019 Capitoline Yearbook now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday., November 13th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 8th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Calling all junior and senior young women! Want to meet new people, serve your community and get ready for the next stage of your life, while having a have a whole of fun? Then stop by and sign-up at the “ Fashioneta" table  in the Commons during lunch with the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated today to learn more.

SAVE THE DATE! On December 1st from 6-11pm Sangamon CEO is hosting a Haunted Holiday Village at the State Fairgrounds. Included will be a haunted trail, cookies, games, an appearance by Santa, and more! Come if you dare, tickets will be sold for $10 at the upcoming lunch shifts

Seniors, to be included in this year's yearbook, you must turn in your baby pictures in room 254 and take your senior portraits by winter break.  Call 787-6688 to set up a time to take your senior portrait.

All cross country athletes must turn in their equipment this week to Coach Devlin and pick up a banquet form.

We are having a City T-Shirt Contest that is open to all SHS students.  The requirements are as follows, submit your drawing to the box in the main office by Wednesday, November 21st. The winning submission will receive a $50 gift card.  A few requirements:
All four schools need to be equally included on the shirt; The design has to include “City Tournament” and “2019”; The design needs to work in either all black or all white to be printed on the shirt; We can only print on one side of the shirt.

If you have not yet picked up the football playoffs shirts you ordered, please do so as soon as possible. You already paid for the stuff, so you might as well pick it up from room 362. 

The yearbook staff will be passing out student i.d. pictures tomorrow in the Common during both lunch shifts.

What up Springfield High! Ms. Troike's class wants to remind you that in honor of Veteran’s Day we will be raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project.  We will be collecting donations next Wednesday and Thursday in the hallway near the snack cart.  Did you know 34% warriors cited mental health issues as a factor making it difficult to get a job.  The Wounded Warrior project provides mental health services and job placement assistance to many wounded warriors.  Your donations will make a difference in their lives.  

Want to be part of a group who provides school supplies to students in need? Pen in a Box will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, November 14th after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room, 366. This is a great way to volunteer without a huge time commitment. Your participation will help make the project a success.

GSA will meet after school today, come help plan upcoming events, including cookie decorating.

Art club will be meeting in room 320 today until 4pm.
