Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, December 3, 2018

Attention Seniors!! Jostens is coming to town, well actually the SHS Commons. Jostens will be here during both lunch shifts tomorrow. Cap and Gown order forms are available in the guidance office. You must order a cap and gown if you are planning to participate in the graduation ceremony.

The Capitoline Yearbook is on sale now at $60 a copy.  Bring your check, money order or cash to room 254.  In January, the cost is $70 a copy.

Seniors - Baby pics should be turned in by winter break, and senior portraits should be done by winter break.  Seniors, Grussenmeyer will be at SHS on Wednesday and December 12th from 2:30-5:00 to take senior portraits or you can call Grussenmeyer Photography at 787-6688 to set up a time to take senior portraits.

If you have not already done so, pick up your student id's in room 254.

Are you interested in the medical field? The Pre-Health Club is meeting today in room 521 after school. Come meet Gilma Roncancio-Weemer to learn more about how lab research helps make advances in healthcare!

Are you a junior or senior interested in enrolling in a solar panel class second semester?  Sign up in the guidance office.  

Art club will be meeting after school on Thursday in room 320 until 4:30.

Next Feminist Club meeting will be held in Ms. Moon’s room, 364, after school on Thursday, December 13.  All are welcome!

The Lady Senator basketball team jumped out to a commanding lead after the 1st quarter and beat Normal U-High 50 to 17. SHS was led in scoring by Maya Fetter with 13 points. Next up for SHS is a home game Thursday against Lanphier.

This week’s game of the week is a boys basketball game at home on Tuesday against the school down the street at 7:00. The theme for this game is red. Everyone should come out and support our boys!

The boys swim team traveled to Malcomb for their first invitational of the year, and they performed pretty well. Highlights included Michael Patton winning the 100 yard butterfly, and Patton, Josh Morton, Lleyton Power and Alex Rivera finishing 3rd in the 200 yard medley relay.  Tomorrow, the boys travel to Bloomington for a triangular meet starting at 4:00.

The Sophomore Boys Basketball won their Friday night game 70 to 40 over Granite City. The varsity split a pair of games this weekend including a thrilling come from behind victory over Decatur Eisenhower 55 to 51. Bennie Slater scored 30 points and added 8 rebounds and 5 blocks while Zaire Harris scored 16 points and had 5 assists. Up next for the Senators is the team down Washington Street on Tuesday night. We need a large student body to there to help support the team. 

Achtung Achtung German Club! If you would like to join us for our Christmas Caroling Party, please come to a brief informational meeting in room 250 right after school on Wednesday, December 5. Hope to see you there.
