FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday, January 15th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch in the Commons, before or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, January 11th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Attention sophomores and juniors. The Capitol Area Career Center will be hosting their annual CACC presentation tomorrow during 2nd hour in the auditorium. The presentation is open to any interested sophomore and junior student. The presenter will also be available in the commons during both lunch shifts for Q&A. Remember, you must have good attendance and be on track for graduation to sign up for CACC. Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes in guidance!
If you are thinking about signing up for CACC next year, consider going to the CACC Open House on January 24th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Meet teachers, tour the building and learn about the different programs available for juniors and seniors. Remember, you must have good attendance and be on track for graduation to sign up for CACC. The CACC building is located at 2201 Toronto Road, Springfield, IL.
The sophomore class is selling SHS apparel. You can get an order form from a class officer, Sophie Gebhart, David Jiang, Sunni Rogers, Alfred Hoffman or Mrs. Devlin outside room 121. Forms are due to Mrs. Devlin by January 18.

Groups, Clubs and Organizations will get their pictures taken on January 29 in the auditorium. If you have a new group, club or organization, please let me—Mrs. Eslahi—know, so that I can add them to the picture schedule.

Attention actors! The SHS Photo Video Club is looking for prospective actors to act in two upcoming short Films. For the first film, we need one main character, a sketchy punk rock male with a soft heart for rubber duckies, as well as two confused student roles; one guy and one girl. We are also looking for around 5 extras as well. For the second, we need a crazy, time-traveling guy, a dinosaur, two cowboys, and someone to act as president Lincoln and Neil Armstrong. Around 5 extras are also needed. Casting calls will be held in room 233 right after school tomorrow and Friday. If you are interested in any of the roles make sure to sign up on the casting call sheet in the main office on the counter! If you have any questions, talk to Dayton Emery.

Unity Day 2019 is almost here! Come join students from the city’s high schools on Friday, January 18 from 3:45 - 5:15 p.m. before the evening’s first game of City Tourney for activities, games, food and fun to benefit Inner City Mission and Kidzeum. Registration for this free event hosted by the Superintendent’s Student Roundtable will take place in the cafeteria during lunch this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Here we go again!! The auditions for Mamma Mia!! will be held on January 15th in the Auditorium from 4:00-8:00. Sign-ups are available by going to Mr. Schoppenhorst’s school webpage or on SHS’s front page. The show will be put on March 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Music is available outside of Mrs. Pinter’s room. Each audition will take approximately an hour. You can sign up for a time of your choosing. If all the slots are taken, just walk in, we will be able to fit you in somewhere. Come prepared with a piece of music showcasing your singing ability and we will work through a little bit of a dance. If you cannot make it on January 15th, please let Mr. Schoppenhorst know and we will work some other time for an audition. If you have what you think are too many conflicts, come and talk to Mr. Schoppenhorst. We will see how it works out. Most rehearsals will be 3:30-6:30 or 5:00-8:00. Hope to see you there!!
Juniors and Seniors if you qualify for National Honor Society by grades, your name will be on the list outside Rooms 326, 356, the Library, or the Main Office. You need to see Mr. Kramer in Room 326 in the morning, or 153 A, in the afternoon, to get information for applying. Applications will be due by February 11th.
There will be a mandatory sign up meeting for boys and girls not involved in a winter sport that are interested in joining the track and field teams this spring. The meeting will be immediately after school on Friday in the commons at 3:30 the meeting will only last 5 minutes. If you cannot attend please see Coach Cotner.
Congratulations to the boys basketball team who won their 5th straight game with an impressive 62 to 37 win over Jacksonville. Bennie Slater led the way with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks while Shane Miller added 14 points and Taryn Wallace had 9 rebounds. The Senators will return to action next week in the City Tournament.
