Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, January 28, 2019

Seniors, Pick up your baby pictures in room 254.  Senior quotes and activities must be turned in by tomorrow.

Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy.

Tomorrow is the Picture Day for groups, clubs and organizations.

Juniors and Seniors if you qualify for National Honor Society by grades, your name will be on the list outside Rooms 326, 356, the Library, or the Main Office. You need to see Mr. Kramer in Room 326 in the morning, or 153 A, in the afternoon, to get information for applying. Applications will be due by February 11th. 

The Junior Class is excited to invite everyone at SHS to the Sadie Hawkin's Dance which will be held February 9th from 8-10 pm in the Commons here at SHS. Tickets will be $10 a person and will go on sale the week of the dance.

Academic Challenge Team Members stop by Room 510 to pick up permission slips.

Last Call for Sophomore Class Apparel Orders. If you missed last weeks deadline you are in luck. Turn order forms and money into Mrs. Devlin's mailbox in the main office by today.

Sign Club Meeting Information: Today, lessons will resume after school at 3:30; Tomorrow, club pictures for the year book (if you have a sign club shirt, wear it).  February 4th; come and participate or observe signed stories, poems, and songs (you are encouraged to try and participate).  February 11th; there will be a guest speaker, you won’t want to miss

It's Almost Valentines Day!! Show that someone special you care by sending them a flower. We will take orders for Carnation Flowers before school and during both lunch shifts in the Commons every day until Valentines Day. Each flower will cost $1.00. Flowers will be delivered on February 14 during 3rd and 5th hours.  See Mrs. Devlin with questions.

Feminist Club meeting Thursday after school in Ms. Moon’s room, 364.

Juniors - if you are interested in being in the work program next year see Mrs. Devlin or Mr. Koger for an application. There are also applications in the guidance office.

Seniors, scholarships opportunities are starting to come in. Ways you can be prepared: check school website, listen to announcements, be signed up for the class Remind account - if you aren't, the directions are outside of Mr. Kramer's office at 153A.  This week's opportunities include:
If you are planning to go into education.  If you are an alum of the local Boys and Girls Club.  If you plan on going into a medical or nursing field of study.  Please stop by and let Mr. Kramer get you started on the process

Congratulations to the following students in Mrs. Bitner’s Foods II class for earring their Illinois Food Handlers License; Ryan Griffin, Kylie Skertich, Tyvin Garrison, Trent Durazzo, Judah Schleyhan, Lexie Pulliam, Carter Former, Parker Johnson and Morgan Adamski.

Atención, Spanish Club members! We will be watching the movie “Ice Age” after school on Tuesday in room 260. Please join us!

Are you interested in business and learning how to invest in the stock market? The Springfield Legacy Investment Club is meeting on Wednesday, January 30 in room 124, Mr. Gully’s room,  right after school from 2:30-3:30. Anyone is welcome! Snacks will be provided”

The Lady Senator basketball team won the City Tournament Saturday night by beating SHG 67 to 52.  SHS was led by Maya Fetter with 19 points, Nicole Swehla added 16, Savannah Schoeben chipped in 12 and Abby Ratsch brought in 10. Next up is a game Monday at Rochester. Thanks to all those who came out to the game to make it a great atmosphere.

Attention all young men planning to try out for baseball. There will be a short meeting Wednesday after school at 2:30 in to cover information you will need to know for tryouts and practices. If you are unable to attend, put a note in Coach Steinwart's mailbox in the main office. 

Cast of Mamma Mia!  Mandatory meeting with you and a parent tonight at 7:00 in the auditorium.  Please bring a calendar with your conflict dates with you.
