Attention sophomores: Jostens will be at SHS Wednesday during first period for a presentation for ordering class rings. All sophomore students should report to first hour for attendance, then move to the auditorium for the presentation. Jostens will be back the following week on February 12th and 13th to place orders during A and B lunch. Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer in guidance.
Juniors and Seniors if you qualify for National Honor Society by grades, your name will be on the list outside Rooms 326, 356, the Library, or the Main Office. You need to see Mr. Kramer in Room 326 in the morning, or 153 A, in the afternoon, to get information for applying. Applications will be due by February 11th.

It's Almost Valentines Day!! Show that someone special you care by sending them a flower. We will take orders for Carnation Flowers before school and during both lunch shifts in the Commons every day until Valentines Day. Each flower will cost $1.00. Flowers will be delivered on February 14th during 3rd and 5th hours. See Mrs. Devlin with questions.
Juniors - if you are interested in being in the work program next year see Mrs. Devlin or Mr. Koger for an application. There are also applications in the guidance office.
Current sophomores and juniors interested in CACC, listen up!! The CACC application is now open. If you are interested in applying for CACC next year, please see Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes ASAP to register online. CACC programs are first come, first serve and they will go quickly! Make sure you register with Mrs. Lauer or Mr. Kyes today!!
All Academic Challenge team members need to see Mr. Covey in Room 510 to get permission slips. We compete in the regional tomorrow. There will be a short meeting after school today to finalize things for tomorrow. If you cannot attend see Mr. Covey
Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy. If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you. Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254.
Groups, Clubs and Organizations Pictures has been rescheduled for tomorrow. We will follow the same schedule.
Seniors must have their senior quotes in to the yearbook by tomorrow.
This month we will be "Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Aretha Franklin." The program will be on February 22nd. The "Trivia Contest" questions will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In order to win this contest, first period classes will have ten minutes to bring their correct answers to room 254 or to place them in Mrs. Eslahi's mailbox. Students will also have the opportunity to win prizes in the essay and poster contests; see Mrs. Eslahi for details.
The boys swimming and diving team placed third in the conference meet on Saturday at Eisenhower pool. Michael Patton has the Senators only first place finish, winning the 100 yard butterfly. Drew Harmon is the conference diving champ, setting a new school and conference record in the morning competition.
Congratulations to the boys basketball team on winning two more games this weekend. The team now has 14 wins. Up next is a big conference game at Southeast tomorrow. It would be great to have a great crowd from the SHS student body at the game.
The Lady Senator basketball team won the Central State 8 conference by beating Chatham 73 to 62 in overtime. SHS was led by Abby Ratsch with a career high 36 points and Nicole Swehla added 16. Next up for SHS is Senior Night this Thursday against Rochester.
Attention all young men planning to try out for baseball. There will be a short mandatory meeting Wednesday after school at 2:30 in the commons to cover information you will need to know for tryouts and practices. If you are unable to attend, put a note in Coach Steinwart's mailbox in the main office.
If any student is interested in representing SHS by participating in a Black History Trivia Bowl Wednesday morning at Southeast, please see Mr Kramer in Room 326, or 153A ASAP
Our annual Sadie’s Dance is this weekend! Guest forms are available for pick up in the guidance office. You must have one if your guest does not attend SHS. Tickets will be $10 a person and will be sold during lunch in the Commons Wednesday-Friday or at the door. Dress is more casual than Homecoming. Cant wait to see you! Come out Saturday from 8-10.
Congratulations to wrestlers Jessie, Danny, and Jacquez Stewart for qualifying for sectionals last Saturday. They look to qualify for state this Friday and Saturday in Mahomet.
