Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, February 11, 2019

Congratulations to senior Jack Allen, who advanced to National Merit Finalist! He is one of 15,000 seniors in the entire country being recognized for his phenomenal test scores, transcript and activities.  We are proud of you, Jack!!

Signing day will be Thursday in the commons at 3:30 pm..  Seniors if you do not get your information into Mr. Connolley by end of tomorrow you will not be able to participate in signing day. 

Staff reminder that Wednesday is the last day for the Draw Down Board for the Red and Black Gala.

Sophomores Jostens will be here tomorrow and Wednesday during both lunch shifts to measure and take your Class Ring orders. Extra design kits are available in Guidance.  Juniors and Seniors who still wish to get a ring may still order.  Jostens is offering a one time only -FREE  Springfield Senator logo embroidered Softshell jacket with Class Ring orders. A $60 deposit is required.

Sign Club Meeting will be today, there will be a guest speaker.

Valentines Day is here - only 3 days left to buy a flower for that someone special. Flowers will be sold during both lunch shifts in the commons. Get yours today - only $1.00 per flower. They will be delivered on Thursday, Feb 14.

This month we will be "Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Aretha Franklin."  The program will be on February 22nd.  The "Trivia Contest" questions will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  In order to win this contest, first period classes will have ten minutes to bring their correct answers to room 254 or to place them in Mrs. Eslahi's mailbox.  Students will also have the opportunity to win prizes in the essay and poster contests; see Mrs. Eslahi for details.

Atención, Spanish Club members! We will be watching the movie “Ice Age” after school on Thursday in room 260. Please join us!

Seniors—Check the display case outside the office.  If you had a photo taken for the yearbook and it is not on the display board call Grussenmeyer Photography 787-6688.

The swim team finished 2nd in their Quadrangular meet at Eisenhower pool on Saturday, beating SHG and O’Fallon, but losing to Glenwood.  Josh Morton won both the 100 yard butterfly and 100 backstroke. Michael Patton won the 200 freestyle, and Jeremiah Freetly finished second in the 200 IM.  Patton, Freetly, Morton and Alex Rivera won the 200 medley relay. Patton, Morton, Rivera and Lleyton Power won the 200 freestyle relay.  Drew Harmon and Jack Sandberg places 2nd & 3rd in diving. 

Congratulations to the IN Session showchoir  - They started out the showchoir competition season on Feburary 2nd with a great showing by placing 4th Runner-up in the Tier II Division; Best showchoir Combo (band), and Best Female soloist in a show, Freshman Ellen Tuttle, at the Danville Midwest Classic showchoir competition in Danville, IL.  IN Session showchoir is continuing to succeed as they competed at the Keokuk Power City Classic showchoir competition in Keokuk, IA this past weekend. The showchoir placed 1st Place in their Division. The showchoir was also one of the Top 6 scoring showchoirs, making finals, receiving 5th Runner-up.   Their next competition will be at The Clash of the Sequins Showchoir Competition in Naperville, IL this weekend. 

Congratulations to Zaire Harris, Raina Beatty, Nate Borders, Brittany Caldwell, Tyler Bean-Catencamp, Ciara Chew, Laurent Ferguson, Josh Frisbie, Jaylen Gary, Taylor Guard, Roy Gully, Jesse Harris, Devyn Heard, Cameron Jones, Sasha McDonald, Ariel Nogues, Caleb Small, Jacques Stewart, Jamariah Ward, Cete Brewton-Wilkin, and Kaessie Wright!  All were honored this weekend at the NAACP Awards for being outstanding students.  Senator Pride!!
