PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA!! THURSDAY, THURSDAY, THURSDAY!!! Be A Senator will be selling hot, delicious Papa John's Pizza today in the Commons during both lunch shifts. For only $2, you can enjoy a slice of pepperoni, sausage, or cheese pizza, or for even a better deal, for only $16 you can buy an entire pizza and share with your friends! Come and get it while it lasts! Thank you for supporting Be A Senator. 

Juniors & Seniors - pick up your permission forms for April 9th in guidance.  Juniors - yellow form, Seniors - orange form. You must have the forms in by the date on the bottom for a junior early dismissal that day or a senior Activity day. See Mr. Kyes, Mr. Williams or Dr. Leardi with any questions.

Any student who wishes to sign up for an AP test, needs to sign up in the Guidance office starting tomorrow and running until Friday, March 22nd. The price for each exam is $94, unless you qualify for a reduced rate.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.

Students parking lot checks have started.  You may be towed if you are in violation.  Remember if you are towed the tow bill will be your responsibility.  Make sure that your parking permit is in the lower left hand corner of the front windshield.

Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy.  If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you.  Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254.

Attention sophomores: Mrs. Lauer will be taking up to 36 students on a field trip to Lincoln Land Community College on March 12th from 12-2pm to attend the ROCTE Career Day Event. Students will attend a Career Expo for trade professions. If you have signed up for CACC for the 2019-2020 school year, this would be an ideal opportunity for you to attend. The first 36 to sign up in the guidance office will be eligible to attend, pending all passing grades. Any questions, see Mrs. Lauer. 

Tryouts for the 2019-2020 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up in the from Coach Jacobs, or from Coach Johnson in room 168.  The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Tuesday, March 12th at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons. This is a MANDATORY informational meeting for parents and candidates that will provide all the details of the 2019-2020 season. All candidates and parents are required to attend.  Any questions please contact Coach Jacobs or Coach Johnson.  Please be checking the SHS Cheerleading Website for Contact information as well as necessary information and updates!  The SHS Cheerleading Website can be found through the SHS website.

Avanti's is Coming!  Order your Avanti's Famous Original Gondola, only $7, or Avanti's Loaf of Bread, only $3, NOW from any German student, German Club student or from Herr Koeppel.  Original Gondolas are Avanti's famous 16" sweeter bread with salami, ham, American cheese, and lettuce.  YUM!  Order yours now through Tuesday, March 12th.  Delivery is Thursday, March 21st, during both lunch shifts and until 4 pm.  Questions, contact Sabrena Campbell 691-5401.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday, March 12th from 8:30 am-2 pm, in the Bloodmobile (to be accessed thru the Commons). Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, and before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, March 8th. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Bloodmobile at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Achtung Achtung German Club! If you would like to join us for the International Dinner today please see Herrn Koeppel in room 250 to sign up and get more information. Hope to see you there.

If you are interested in working in Mamma Mia either backstage or in front of it, please fill out the application form for stage crew on Mr. Schoppenhorst’s school webpage.  There are a limited number of positions.  Applications are due tomorrow.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois (BGCCIL) in partnership with the City of Springfield and the Sangamon County Juvenile Justice Council, is hosting its 4th annual Teen Job Fair and Resource Expo. The event will take place April 5th from 6pm to 8:30pm at The Boys & Girls Club’s Central Unit, located at 300 S. 15th Street.  Job seekers can get help filling out job applications, may receive on the spot interviews, and have a chance to enter multiple prize drawings. The event features many local employers and youth service organizations. The job fair will also include free food and beverages. This event is free to attend and geared toward teenagers 16-19 who are seeking employment or volunteer opportunities. Parents are also welcome to accompany their teen participant.

The Senators high school all-star hockey game is now scheduled for Wednesday, March 13 at 7:45pm Nelson Center.  Come on out and root for our students who play hockey.  Student admission is $2.

Join us for project mack’s diversity, unity and inclusion summit 2019 on Saturday March 23rd.  This unforgettable experience will empower, improve, and enhance your approach to dealing with diversity and inclusion in your school and community.  This interactive day will create a space to build relationships with students from other schools while engaging in critical, thoughtful and challenging dialogue about moving beyond tolerance, leveraging differences, and changing the story.  This is free to attend for all students.  Please pick up a flyer in the main office if you are interested.
