Prom tickets go on sale today through Friday during lunch in the Commons. Ticket costs are $25 per person and $40 per couple - they will be the same price at the door.
Junior Students - Are you interested in becoming a teacher? UIS is offering a Dual Credit teacher education class for Senior year. For more information, sign up in the Guidance Office or see Mr. Kyes ASAP. Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-served basis.
Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2019-2020 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 pm Friday and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mr. Kyes or Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying.

The class of 2022 is now selling long sleeves and jogger sweatpants. Long sleeves are $15 and the Joggers are $25. Forms are due today. Please see a class officer if you’d like one.
First annual Ultimate Frisbee Tournament will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the SHS New Street field. Registration forms are outside Mrs. Devlin's office and in the main office. Cost is $5 per person. You can form your own team, but all participants are required to complete a Registration and Waiver Form to be turned in to Mrs. Devlin by April 24.
Attention students and teachers! The SHS Photo Video Club is proud to present the first Solon Film Festival. Everyone is invited to this fun night, showcasing two student films and more. The films are so bad they are entertaining. Come support the club, May 3rd, at 7:00PM in the SHS auditorium. Witness our stars, Will Moffett, as a crazed old man, and Noah Deassuncao as a rubber ducky obsessed jerk. Bring your friends and family to this one night event!
The girls soccer team remained undefeated in the Central State 8 with a 3-1 victory over SHG. Maria Jorquera scored 3 goals for the Senators. Great game ladies!!!
The baseball team won round one of The City Series over Washington Street rival SH-G with a 7 to nothing shutout. Will Reiser pitched five innings of no-hit ball to combine with 2 scoreless innings of relief by Blake Pettys to secure the win. The offense was led by 3 hits from Ben Hartl and 2 apiece by Reiser and Jacks Hyde. Chad Haller and Rico Johnson each contributed key RBI hits, and the defensive star of the day was Jack Zerfas who recorded 4 outs in left field, including two outstanding plays. The rematch is scheduled for tonight around 6:45 at Lanphier Park.
The Springfield High School Varsity Boys Tennis Team competed in a dual meet against Chatham-Glenwood High School yesterday, finishing 8-1. Raj Sinha, Eric Martin, David Jiang, Brian Becker and Zeke Cross cruised to victories at singles, while the three doubles teams of Brian Becker/David Jiang, Raj Sinha/Eric Martin and David Ye/Manu Montalvo also were victorious. The Junior Varsity finished 7-10 with Adrian Russo, Ethan Stott and Reece Fullerton winning at singles. The doubles teams of Dae-Cheon Pippin/Diego Llosa, Kai Brudnak/Sam Yoder, Aaron Halloway/Justin Nwajei and Vedant Amin/Gavin Hinson also posted victories.
The softball team lost a nail biter to SHG, 8-6, in a back and forth game. The girls took an early lead on a Mallory Vespa home run. Kira Brown, Maddie Cleary and Grace Vespa also led the way with multiple hits. The girls look for the split tonight at 4:30 PM against SHG out at UIS.
