Good morning Springfield High! Today is Monday, April 29, 2019

PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA, THURSDAY, THURSDAY, THURSDAY!! This will be the LAST pizza sale of the year!! For only $2, you can enjoy a slice of pepperoni, cheese, or sausage pizza! Pizza quantities will be limited, so come and get it before its gone!!! Thank you for supporting Be A Senator!

Senior surveys are now being distributed! If you want to have your memories published in the Senior Issue of the Newspaper, please see a senior staffer or Ms. Negele in room 362 for the survey. All answers must be school appropriate! This is a fun way for you seniors to immortalize your best (and worst) high school moments… so pick up your survey and join the party! Surveys must be turned in to Ms. Negele or a staffer by the end of day tomorrow. 

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!!  Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tuesday, May 7th, 8:30 am-2:00 pm, in the Bloodmobile (to be accessed thru the Commons). Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch in the Commons, before school or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Friday, May 3rd. Please sign-up ASAP because once the form is filled, you will not be able to sign up. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Bloodmobile at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES!  Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy.  If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you.  Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254.

Feminist Club meeting on Thursday in Moon’s room, 364.  Looking forward to seeing you!

If you are interested in selecting and directing the Fall Play next year, turn in your completed application to Mrs. Gerdes or Mrs. Eaton before the end of the school day Wednesday.

The Ronald McDonald House is hosting its 4th annual Glow Run on Friday! Come out for a fun run, food, and music in the dark. Register this week to secure a shirt. See Emma Cox or Astha Nimevat for details. Hope to see you there!

Class of 2019, teachers and administrators! Some of you have been selected to represent the senior class in a commemorative video. You will have a few seconds to say something you'll  miss or any favorite memories regarding the senior class. Selected individuals are posted on the display case, outside the main office. Filming will take place after school Thursday in the library. Come prepared.

Keri Snyder and Gail Johnson, Sports Medicine and Athletic Training specialists, will be speaking to the pre-health club after school today until 4:00 in Mr. Reid's room 522. Hope to see you there!

The SHS boys track and field team placed 9th out of 20 Teams at the Mount Prospect Invite on Friday.  Top Finishers for SHS were: Matthew Abe-Bell 4th in the 100 and 400; Robert Williams 1st in the 110 Hurdles; Ryan Waldinger 3rd in the 300 hurdles; and Qa’Ron Hawkins 1st in the triple jump. The boys next compete at the City Track and Field meet Tuesday at Lanphier. 

The baseball team ran into a tough group from Washington Friday night when they lost 2 games by the scores of 4 to nothing and 9 to 2. The SHS highlights included a strong pitching outing by Joseph Crum who threw 5 solid innings in game one, allowing only 2 earned runs. Adam Passmore, Ben Hartl, and Marc Black each had 2 hit games in the doubleheader. Next up is a 4:30 contest against Glenwood tomorrow at their place. 

Congratulations to the first annual Ultimate Frisbee Champions - The CABT team including Will Formea, Ethan Doyle, Raj Sinha, Alex Stratton, Cavin Armour, Ryan Waldinger and Jack Zerfas. A shout out to Katie and the Boys for a strong finish.  Thanks to all the fans who showed up to support their team.

Your Senator Football team will be tackling your hunger this Friday morning by selling Krispy Kream Donuts in the Commons and the Annex. $1 per donut or $10 for 12. You can also pre order a case for only $8 through Mr. Graham! Order today!
