IN Session Showchoir Director/ Choreographer
Steven L. Robinson -
Steven L. Robinson has been in and around the showchoir circuit for almost 20 years as a performer, stage crew member, combo member, choreographer, assistant director, co-director and director. Since 2013, Steven L. Robinson serves as the Springfield High showchoir director for the award-winning “IN Session” Showchoir. Steven L Robinson also serves as choreographer for the Franklin Middle School “Fantastic Falcons” showchoir. In his free time he loves spending time with his Wife, Carrie C Robinson and Friends. In the summer time you can find Steven L. Robinson on Stage performing either at the Springfield Muni Opera or at the Hoogland Center. Steven L. Robinson enjoys working free-lance as a choreographer, clinician and adjudicator.
IN Session Showchoir Combo Director
Joshua Peters is the music teacher at Butler Elementary in district #186. This is his first year teaching, and is very excited to begin his career as a music teacher and combo director for the showchoir. Born and raised right here in Springfield, Joshua Peters is a Springfield High School alumn. Joshua Peters graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale this past May with Bachelor of Music in Music Education. Joshua Peters took Classical Guitar as his primary instrument, and Clarinet as his secondary. Throughout his time at SIU, Joshua Peters had the privelidge to perform in many instrumental ensembles ranging from marching band to synphony orchestra. Joshua Peters says he is dedicated to providing all students a high quality education in music and is looking forward to a great school year and fun experience with the Springfield High School IN Session showchoir combo.
Joy A Nation –
Joy A Nation started taking piano lessons at the age of 7. At the age of 10, she started playing for church and at the age of 13, she was the full-time organist. Joy currently is the pianist/pipe-organist at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville. Joy also plays the keys for community theatre such as Hoagland Center and Legacy Theatre during summer. Joy A Nation was even in a Contemporary Christian Band and recently a Rock & Roll band. She also helps out several schools in the area when needed.
Growing up Joy was a music nut, constantly learning new genres of music. She was a huge band nerd in school, and I learned to play clarinet, flute, sax, trombone and baritone. Joy earn a chance to represented her school, Morrisonville, in the All-State band and played clarinet her senior year where she was 2nd in the state. Joy Nation is looking forward to going to competitions with the showchoir!
Fun Fact: Joy A Nation’s specialty is alterations, and repurposing the fabric in Wedding gowns and other things.
