Interested in supporting your summer book study online? Schools and teachers have a variety of webpage tools available to support books studies for students, teachers and community.
The teacher Blog tool or School News page tool supports a moderated blog. For example, Black Hawk has used this webpage tool to allow students and community an easy option for sharing comments on an all school read.
The Forum page can be added to a school or teacher page and provides another way of supporting a book discussion. This tool is not moderated, but if the page is locked to students or parents or employees, it will not attract the spam that other open blogs can gather. The unmoderated comment pages on the Forum page enable an easy flow of information and can support several books at once.
The new eNewsletter page also provides an easy option to build community around a book study. The eNewsletter page allows you to build a collection of articles that are easily read on the web or emailed to subscribers. Examples of the new newsletter page are
•The Open Book
•Technology News
•iPad 1:1
•iPod, iPad
Jefferson used a Book Club page with a few more options to support their reading collaboration this year. There is a moderated article page for each group study. Their book study had responses from other schools.
