The Springfield Public Schools website will have a mock voting system available on Monday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (students will not be in attendance on the national voting day of November 6). Students and staff wishing to participate will be able to login with their district account and vote for President. When the polls close at 4 p.m., the results will be displayed with options to view results by several criteria. Results will also be available in a downloadable spreadsheet. A graphical "I Voted" sticker will be placed on the website of students and teachers who participate. Votes will remain confidential.
The voting system is designed to work well with mock voting booth setups. Students login, place their vote, see a "thank you message," and then the student is automatically logged out as the system returns to the main login page. Schools using this tool for voting booth setups are encouraged to use computers that have been updated to Lion. Safari on Lion has a full-screen mode (icon at top-right of menubar) that will present the voting system in a kiosk format.
The voting website can be accessed here: http://www.sps186.org/vote/
