EPIC! Free Digital Books for Elementary Students

October 19, 2016

Students learn to read by reading, lots and lots of reading! As students begin to devour books, we often find ourselves looking for more interesting text for them to read. EPIC! is one tool that can be used to add reading material to classrooms. Many of you have heard of EPIC!, but did you know that new features have been added to this resource? When educators set up their free accounts on the EPIC! website, they can now create individual student accounts. The creation of these student accounts allows teachers to track progress on student reading logs. Reading logs show the book title, amount of time spent on the book, and number of pages flipped. Teachers can also create book collections to share with students. Think about creating collections for content area topics, reading levels, or popular interests. EPIC! also provides pre-made collections. The most current "featured" collections include Fall, Human Body System, and Fire Safety. Students will be motivated to read with access to a wide range of reading material as well as the ability to personalize their profile avatar and earn badges. Check out the educator resources for more information.
