What is AVID?
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a support system for students to be in advanced level classes to encourage their plight to college.
AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
At Franklin Middle School we are in our third year with three classes of AVID one in 6th, 7th, and 8th. We believe that each one of these students have the potential to make it to college and do our best to encourage good study skills, note taking the Cornell way, teaching students how to talk to teachers about grades, and teaching them how to be good citizens by giving back to society.
