NEW WINNERS!

Jan 28, 2013 The newest winner of the 2013 Caldecott Award was given to the illustrator, J. Klassen, of the book titled, This is Not My Hat. The newest winner of the 2013 Coretta Scott King award was given to the author, Andrea Davis Pinkney for the book she wrote called, Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America.

THE BLUESTEM AWARD LIST

Students listen to or read as many of the twenty books on the list between now and the end of February. In February, students will vote on their favorite book. LIBRARY TIME TEACHES RESPONSIBILITY

Sep 30, 2010 Students can learn responsibility during their visits to the library. Students are required to return library books to the library when they are due. They are also required to take good care of their books they have checked out. 2011 CALDECOTT, NEWBERY and CORETTA SCOTT KING MEDALS ANNOUNCED

Jan 29, 2010 The Randolph Caldecott Medal for the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children was awarded to “A Sick Day for Amos McGee,” illustrated by Erin E. Stead. It is the 2011 Caldecott Medal winner. The book was also written by Philip C. Stead. Two Caldecott Honor Books also were named: “Dave the Potter: Artist, Poet, Slave,” illustrated by Bryan Collier, written by Laban Carrick Hill; and “Interrupting Chicken,” written and illustrated by David Ezra Stein. 2012 MASTER LIST

Sep 7, 2009 The Monarch Book Award is the yearly book award for students in kindergarten through third grade for the State of Illinois. It is sponsored by the Illinois School Library Media Association. Each year, twenty books are nominated by teachers and librarians throughout Illinois. Children read or listen to the stories and then vote on their favorite book in February. In March, the statewide winning book is announced. It is an exciting time for children. READ MORE
