2011 - 2012
5/11/12
I feel like a broken record and think I need a new tune! I'll toss this week's chaos up to fear of change (losing Miss Getz) and not feeling well (although my leg infection is healing nicely). By the end of the afternoon, I was ready to pull my hair out! But I am determined to start Monday fresh and encourage all of the kids to make the most of our last two weeks together! I know we can do it...
Today was hectic... We skipped our regular morning meeting to take care of some top secret business. Be on the lookout on Sunday...
After music, I gave the end of quarter Reading Theme Test. The kids worked really hard but I haven't had a chance to see how they did... The tests should be graded and ready to send home by Wednesday. We followed the reading test with spelling and vocabulary tests. Then I started a favorite, last read aloud The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It's the magical story of how a china rabbit learns about love and is written by the amazing Kate DiCamillo. I am going to make sure it is finished before the end of the year.
We created bar graphs in math (NO HOMEWORK!). The focus was on how to choose a scale (the '"count by" numbers that go up the side of the graph) and how to label the title and two sides. I think the kids are really catching on. Math was followed by Fun Friday. I am sad to report that 8 students weren't able to participate due to behavior and/or lack of responsibility (turning in homework). I am hoping for 100% participation next week.
I sent home Fridge Facts along with an invitation to our "Information Exchange" next Thursday. There will be no spelling or vocabulary next week but there are 4 math facts tests! The first two are Monday and will cover the x 3 and รท 3 facts. Use the weekend to practice!
I thing that's all for now. Have a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all!
