Apr 15, 2010 The class just finished the novel The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. This is a great story of how Hannah travels back in time and arrives in 1942 when the Nazi's are rounding up Jews as the Holocaust begins. The students are currently continuing their study of Holocaust novels in literature circles. Students have been placed in groups of 3-5 and each group is independently reading a different Holocaust novel. READ MORE

Oct 21, 2009 Students have been reading Hatchet in class for the past two weeks. They have been enjoying the novel, and we are almost done. Next week they will be creating Keynote presentations that describe the elements of literature that were present in the novel.Update
Sep 4, 2009 My sixth graders have worked very hard this week! We've been learning about plot, retelling, capitalization, and dialogue. Next week we will focus on Extended Response and sentences. Keep up the great work!!!Doing a great job!
Aug 26, 2009 The sixth graders are doing a great job! They have been working very hard this week. We have set up our binders and writer's notebooks, taken word knowledge notes, and learned the five parts of plot. We will continue working on plot the remainder of the week. We will also be learning about nouns and verbs. Friday the students will take their first word knowledge quiz. Keep up the good work!!!Welcome Back Students!
Aug 22, 2009 I am very excited to begin the 2009-2010 school year. I hope you are excited to begin your first year in middle school. We are going to have fun learning new reading and writing strategies. I have some exciting projects and novels planned for the year.
