Vocabulary Quiz Date Change

Jan 24, 2013 The lesson 13 quiz scheduled for tomorrow has been changed to Monday. Please study your words this weekend.

3rd Quarter Book Projects

Jan 23, 2013 Students were in the library choosing a biography to read and take notes on. They will be making a keynote presentation in early February and presenting it to the class. I think this will be an enjoyable project for everyone.

Welcome to Literature

Jan 16, 2013 I love reading and discussing stories with students. Literature students will be reading and writing daily. We have already finished Rikki--Tikki-Tavi and have studied the parts of plot. Ask them what they are reading. They enjoy talking about the books they have chosen. As the quarter progresses, students will be giving book talks, and studying many aspects of literature. We will also be writing and learning new vocabulary words.

Midterm exams are upon us

Dec 7, 2012 My exam has been scheduled for Monday, December 17th. Language arts students have been given an extensive review packet over the vocabulary they have learned so far this school year. they should have the information needed to complete it. They will be allowed to use this packet during the first part of the test. I strongly encourage them to complete it as it will beneficial come test time.

2nd Quarter Project Due

Nov 26, 2012 My first, fourth, and sixth hour classes have a "movie poster" due Friday, November 30th. Students read a novel of their choice and have been assigned to create a movie poster about their book. I'm looking forward to reading their reviews and seeing their creative ideas.

Conferences

Oct 25, 2012 I'm looking forward to meeting with all of you tonight or tomorrow regarding your student's progress. If you are unable to attend, please call or email if you have any concerns at all and we can communicate that way.

Testing

Oct 6, 2012 We're quickly approaching the end of the first quarter ( that's so hard to believe) and students have been finishing up units of study and doing many assessments. In language arts, we have taken the Scholastic Reading Inventory, as well as a chapter test over spelling conventions. Additionally, students will soon be writing a narrative essay. In literature class, students read a story and answered multiple choice questions and wrote an extended response as well. READ MORE

Today Was Crazy!

Oct 3, 2012 Due to circumstances beyond my control, students will not be going to the library tomorrow. It appears that the only class reporting to the library will be my 5th hour literature class. I'm planning to get my language arts class there as soon as I can. I'm sorry for any inconvenience will cause. I'm trying to get better at rolling with the changes.
