Period 3
We started our discussion of Problem 1.3. This concerns once again finding a pattern and extending it. Once we have done that we made a graph to show the relationship we found.
This is something we will expand on tomorrow.
Assignment: work on Wednesday homework.

Period 3
Today we looked at algebraic ways to solve equations. This involves keeping the equation balanced by always doing the same thing to both sides of the equation. It also means that we need to recognize what the opposite operation is and to use it to "undo" the current operation and solve the problem.
Assignment: On equation page, #2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Work on Wednesday homework.

Period 4
We continued our work with solving systems of equations. This meant that we again looked at equations to decide what needed to be done to eliminate a variable.
We will continue to practice this skill.
Assignment: 7.4A, #2, 3 , 7 -9, 11, 14, 17, 20, 21. Work on Wednesday homework.

Period 5
We practiced using the special rules we developed on Friday. Some students are still uncertain about them and preferred to use FOIL or a table to solve the problems. As we practice this and discuss this more hopefully using the shortcut will be more comfortable. Seeing the patterns in these kinds of problems also means that it will be easier to factor special products later in this chapter.
Assignment: 9.3C, #1-18, 22. Work on Wednesday homework.
