Periods 2 and 3
As a way to summarize the concepts we learned in "Mathematical Models," students worked independently or with one partner to create a technology project on linear and inverse relationships. Students used ComicLife, Pages, Prezi, or Keynote to present their ideas.
Period 2 began this today and will work on it again tomorrow.
Period 3 began this on Friday and had the entire time in class today to work on it. For Period 3, this is due tomorrow.
Assignment: Period 2—work on project (due on Wednesday.)
Period 3—complete project (due tomorrow.)
Period 4
Continuing our work with exponents we began talking about exponential growth. In these cases the independent variable, or x, is an exponent. Because of that the resulting graph is not a straight line, but a curve.
We discussed how to use a table to write the equation and to graph the resulting equation.
We will continue work with this tomorrow.
Assignment: p. 524, #1 - 2, 4 -8.
Period 5
Continuing our work with quadratic equations in the form ax² + bx + c, we discussed what to do if there is a negative coefficient of the first term—you factor out a negative 1. We also discussed common factors and how this simplifies solving equations. We started to talk about the vertical motion model and will expand on that tomorrow.
Assignment: p. 597, #1 -3, 12 -21, 23-26
